The first step is a conversation on the phone, so you can ask any questions you have and Tania can get information about your child and what you might need. Following that, an assessment is booked at a time that suits your child best. This is usually at home for younger children and possibly at home and/or school or college for older children and young people.

Tania uses observation, play, chatting, informal assessments with toys and formal assessments with pictures to get a full understanding of your child's language and interaction. Discussion with adults and home and the education setting is an important part of this. The assessment is adjusted as necessary to make sure your child is engaged and enjoys the session.

At the end of the assessment you are given a summary and Tania will discuss the recommended options. Therapy is often about what is done between sessions, with strategies and activities as part of your daily routines and play. Tania demonstrates and shares information and resources with home and education settings, to ensure that all the adults are confident with what to do to develop your child's language. For some children this is enough and they may only need a couple of follow up sessions and monitoring. Others may need  1-1 sessions, with ongoing monitoring and breaks between blocks of therapy.
